The top part acts as a normal ashtray, but once ash has built up, simply press the middle button. This makes the floor of the top ashtray drop down, and as it does so, it spins. The spinning motion sends your ash and butts flying off into the bottom compartment, where they are out of sight and smell! The top ashtray is easy to remove when you want to empty the whole thing.
